Ms. Murphy has dedicated her career to helping families in transition and has nearly 15 years of experience in the legal field. Ms. Murphy’s practice encompasses both family law litigation and negotiated settlements. Ms. Murphy skillfully guides individuals through mediation to resolve their family law issues, leveraging her experience and 40-hour mediation and conflict resolution training led by Gary Friedman at the Center for Understanding in Conflict to achieve effective and amicable solutions. When court involvement is necessary, Ms. Murphy’s extensive knowledge of family law and expertise as a seasoned litigator ensures her clients are informed and prepared for Court.
She focuses on all aspects of family law, including dissolution of marriage, domestic violence matters, child and spousal support, property characterization and division, high-conflict custody and visitation disputes, and parentage. Additionally, she assists clients with name and gender changes by securing court orders and updating government identity documents.
Ms. Murphy is deeply committed to serving her family law community. She currently is an Executive Committee Member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, Barristers Family Law Section. In 2023, Ms. Murphy served as Chair of the Family Law Section of the San Mateo County Bar Association, acting as a liaison between its 375 members and the Family Law Division of the San Mateo County Superior Court. She also served on the Board of Directors for the San Mateo County Bar Association in 2023 and was the President of the Barristers Section in 2022. She also volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in the foster care system in San Mateo County.
Ms. Murphy earned her J.D. from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly known as UC Hastings College of the Law). Ms. Murphy's exceptional leadership and the high regard in which she was held by her peers earned her the honor of being elected to give the commencement address at her law school graduation.
Prior to joining ADZ Law, LLP, she was a judicial extern for the Honorable Daniel A. Flores in the Family Law Division of the San Francisco Superior Court. During law school, she served on the executive board of the nationally ranked moot court team, receiving the Best Oral Advocate award at the 51st Annual David E. Snodgrass Moot Court Competition. She was also a certified law clerk at Bay Area Legal Aid and received recognition as a Wiley W. Manual honoree for outstanding pro bono achievement.
After law school, Ms. Murphy returned to UC Law San Francisco as an Adjunct Professor, teaching legal research and writing. She has been named a Super Lawyers® Northern California Rising Star from 2019 to 2024, an honor awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys in California each year.
