ADZ Law is proud to announce that Aylin Açıkalın is now licensed as an attorney by the California State Bar Association. Aylin has been a paralegal with ADZ Law for three years, during which she has been exemplary in her legal support and advocacy for our clients. Aylin is based in New Orleans and has been a practicing attorney in Louisiana since 2005 and Florida since 2011.
Aylin graduated cum laude from the George Washington University Elliott School with a Bachelor of Arts degree and went on to achieve her law degree from Tulane Law School where she participated in Moot Court, the International Law Journal, Environmental Law Clinic, and the Legislative Advocacy Clinic.
Aylin’s extensive legal experience includes being a law clerk in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court and Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal, and being an associate at Kanner & Whitely, LLC where she specialized in national consumer fraud, toxic tort, and environmental class action litigation. Aylin was legislative staff for U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu and at the New Orleans City Council, where she worked on environmental and energy issues, public utility regulation, appropriations, zoning, land use, criminal justice reform, living wage legislation, development and historic preservation. Aylin Acikalin is also an experienced community mediator trained by Community Mediation Services and the New York Peace Institute.
Aylin is actively working to propose legislation in Louisiana that expands the definition of domestic abuse to include coercive control, emotional and financial abuse as our law does in California.
Aylin has two children and three fur babies. In addition to Aylin being a highly valued member of our ADZ Law legal team, she is also sister to one of the founding partners of our firm, Tulin Açıkalın. We are all looking forward to Aylin thriving in her role here as associate attorney. Congratulations Aylin!
